I came to Thailand once and then I just kept coming back. And if I am being completely honest a huge part of that is the food and the experiences.
Phuket has one of the most exciting and varied dining and entertainment scenes in the whole of Southeast Asia and it goes so far beyond the pad thai and fried rice that most tourists stick to. From an underwater restaurant surrounded by 25,000 live marine animals to a secret restaurant you can only reach by boat and a dinner 50 metres up in the air, this list has some genuinely jaw dropping gems that most visitors completely miss.
These are my honest top 20 favourite restaurants and experiences in Phuket in 2026 and every single one is worth making the effort for.
🧜 1. Su Va Na
The Underwater Restaurant That Will Leave You Speechless
I have never seen anything quite like Su Va Na anywhere in the world and once you see it you will completely understand why it has won the award for World's Best Underwater Restaurant.
Located inside Central Phuket Floresta, this extraordinary fine dining restaurant seats you surrounded by over 25,000 live marine animals and 300 species swimming past you in real time while you eat. And if that was not enough, there is a live mermaid performance during your dinner that is genuinely jaw dropping.
The 13 course tasting menu created by Chef Atanu Nath is exceptional, combining European techniques with the very best of Asian and Thai flavours using premium ingredients like Hokkaido scallop, Canadian lobster and Patagonian toothfish.

The Street Food Scene That Will Blow Your Mind
Chillva Market is one of my absolute favourite places to eat in Phuket and if you only visit one food market during your trip make it this one. Located 10 mins from Phuket Town it comes alive in the evenings with hundreds of street food vendors serving everything from grilled meat skewers and pad thai to fresh coconut ice cream and mango sticky rice. You can eat extremely well here for under 200 baht and the atmosphere is completely electric with locals and tourists all mixed together having the best time. This is a real Phuket food experience and I cannot recommend it enough

The Atmosphere You Cannot Find Anywhere Else
The night markets of Phuket are a food lover's paradise and visiting at least one during your trip is an absolute must.
The Sunday Walking Street Market in Phuket Old Town transforms the entire area into a stunning outdoor food and craft market every Sunday evening with fairy lights, live music and the most incredible smell of food cooking over open flames.

The Secret Restaurant You Can Only Reach by Boat
This is the one that most visitors to Phuket never find out about and it is genuinely one of the most magical dining experiences on the entire island.
Black Ginger is a stunning traditional Thai restaurant set within The Slate hotel that can only be reached by taking a small wooden boat across a lily pad lake at night. The atmosphere is completely unlike anything else in Phuket with beautiful low lit traditional architecture, exceptional Thai cuisine and a sense of occasion that makes the whole evening feel genuinely special. The Lily Pad Cafe That Broke the Internet
Ma Doo Bua is one of the most photographed locations in the whole of Phuket and once you visit you will immediately understand why. This stunning cafe is surrounded by thousands of beautiful lily pads on a peaceful lake in a quiet local area and the photo opportunities here are genuinely extraordinary. The menu offers a lovely selection of Thai and Western food and drinks at very reasonable prices and the whole experience is incredibly relaxed and peaceful. The Hidden Gem With a Free Shuttle
This is one of those places that feels like a genuine local secret and it is one of my favourite discoveries in Phuket. Restaurant Number 6 on the hill is the sister restaurant to the popular Number 6 in Patong and the views from up here are absolutely spectacular.
What makes it even better is that there is a completely free taxi shuttle that picks you up directly from the Patong Number 6 restaurant and takes you up the hill which means you can enjoy the stunning setting without any of the hassle of finding it yourself.

For the freshest and most delicious seafood in Phuket, Kan Eang at Pier in Chalong Bay is a legendary local institution that has been serving exceptional Thai seafood for decades. The restaurant sits right on the waterfront with beautiful views across the bay and the menu is packed with spectacular fresh fish, prawns, crab and lobster dishes all cooked in traditional Thai styles.
This is a mid range restaurant that represents extraordinary value for money compared to anything similar back home and it is the kind of place where you look around the room and realise that most of the tables are locals, which always tells you everything you need to know. The views from up there are completely breathtaking with panoramic vistas across the island, the ocean and the jungle canopy stretching out as far as you can see in every direction.
